OUTPATIENT PROGRAMS FOR SUBSTANCE USE DISORDERS FROM SACRED OAK

Sacred Oak Medical Center’s Outpatient Programs help patients embrace a new way of living, free from the shackles of chemical dependency. Through its new Outpatient Clinic in Pearland, Texas, Sacred Oak Medical Center now offers two comprehensive adult substance abuse treatment programs.

Two Programs—Two Personalized Solutions

+Sacred Oak Medical Center’s Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is a program for adults that consists of 20 hours of services per week. Patients attend Monday through Friday during the day.

PHP is designed to help those who need more structured and focused care. The goal of the program is to prepare the patient for a successful return to home, work, or school by addressing and managing the symptoms that can make these transitions so challenging. PHP offers day treatment that is compassionate, nurturing, and safe and is best suited for those who don’t require the level of care that inpatient treatment provides.  Sacred Oak Medical Center’s PHP helps patients address the problems caused by their substance abuse by offering a supportive environment with community and family interaction.

+Sacred Oak Medical Center’s Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) consists of 9-10 hours of services per week. Patients attend Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday and daytime or evening hours are available. The IOP helps create a stable environment by giving patients support while they establish a solid foundation for their recovery. It is often a beneficial retreat from the highly structured environment of inpatient/residential treatment or PHP.

Charting a Path to Recovery

Recovery is a journey and Sacred Oak’s Outpatient Programs help our patients focus on their path to recovery, while addressing both the psychological and physical triggers than can factor into a relapse. Both PHP and IOP offer assessment, treatment planning, and individual, group, and family sessions. Group sessions consist of Relapse Prevention, Life Skills, Chemical Dependency education, and Psychoeducational groups. These programs focus on the behavioral assets patients will need to survive, through emotion regulation such as anger management, stress tolerance, interpersonal relationship enhancement, or conflict resolution. Treatment is individualized–not “one size fits all”–and combines the evidence-based practices of Motivational Enhancement Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, the Matrix Model, and Twelve Step Facilitation.

The Family’s Role in Recovery

Like many mental health professionals, the Sacred Oak Medical Center team views substance abuse disorders as a family disease and considers family interaction a crucial component of any treatment program’s success. People who struggle with addiction often suffer from shame and guilt and their family members are often hurt, angry, and resentful. Our family sessions facilitate the healing process and our patients are encouraged to have their relatives participate in family group sessions
