It’s no secret that mental illness can be debilitating, and the more society learns about behavioral health, the more each individual opens their eyes to better look out for their loved ones. When it comes to behavioral health challenges, we understand wanting to spot the signs that a loved one is suffering from poor mental health early on so that treatment can begin sooner rather than later.
Although every mental illness is different, and therefore has different signs and symptoms, here are a few general signs that indicate your loved one is suffering from some kind of mental illness, such as depression or anxiety, as well as what outpatient recovery programs we offer.
Signs and Symptoms of Mental Illness
Heightened worry or fear
Feeling sad or down frequently
Trouble concentrating and focusing on tasks
Frequent irritability or grouchiness
Decreased engagement with friends, family, and social encounters
Changes in energy and sleeping patterns
Difficulty or inability to perceive and understand their own feelings
Sudden chemical dependency, substance abuse, alcohol addiction, and/or drug addiction
Becoming sick and under-the-weather often with no clear underlying cause
